買 and 賣 (which you will learn next) can be confusing. 買 means to buy, 賣 means to sell. The word 賣買 means “to buy and sell.” This can be confusing for some words, though. For example, a common word is 예매하다. You haven’t learned the character for “예” yet, but it is 豫 and used to indicate “in advance.” Therefore, the word 豫買하다 can mean “to buy/purchase in advance.” However, 豫賣하다 (“to sell in advance”) is also possible, but much less common.
Common Words using this Character:
賣買 = to buy and sell
예買하다 = to buy in advance
구買하다 = to purchase
구買者 = the buying person
